Draken is an automatic pilot watch dedicated to the iconic Swedish fighter jet: J35 Draken (in service between the 1960’s to 1990’s). Draken S (J35S) the next release of Draken following the Founder’s Limited Edition (J35F) with black dial and black bezel. Delivery is planned for August 2022. Each watch has its serial number engraved on the case back.

Description
The prototype version of our Draken pilot watch was bicompax chronograph. Its design was inspired by and dedicated to the classic military pilot watches of the 1960’s and 1970’s – the operational heyday of the Saab J35 Draken. The dial and bezel layouts have clear connections to the classic Heuer 1550 design, but specified according to today’s standard.
The chronograph will be redesigned for a Swiss automatic movement (Sellita SW510), prototyped in 2022 and released in 2023). In the meanwhile we’ve decided to launch this time & date version of the same watch instead: the J35F and now J35S.
The movement in Draken S is automatic: the high-quality Swiss Sellita SW200-1 with a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement can be seen through the see-through sapphire crystal case back. The bezel is ceramic, thereby resistant to scratches, nicks and marks. All illuminated elements have Old Radium – off-white in day light and yellowish green in darkness. On J35KSI, the illumination is BGW9: white in daylight and turquise/blue in darkness.
What is a pilot watch?
A new class of pilot watches came to light in the 1950s with the advent of the jet engine. For commercial pilots, juggling time zones became a head ache. For fighter pilots timing of events and countdowns were a matter of life and death.
The dominant design for many NATO and Western European air forces was the large numerical, bicompax chronograph with a 60-minute bezel and syringe hands. The result: high legibility and maximum utility for getting the job done.
Automatic Swiss Movement: Sellita SW200-1 & SW510 BH b
Draken S is powered by one of the most proven automatic movements: Swiss SW200-1 (equivalent to ETA 2824). Draken J35KSI has a SW510 BH b movement. Both movements have a counterweight rotor winding up the main spring while the watch with the motion of the wrists it’s on. Its power reserve of 38 hours enables you to leave the watch til well into the day after the next when fully wound. The movement has been chosen because of its extreme reliability, quality and precision. It can also be serviced at most qualified watchmakers around the world!
Glass: Sapphire Crystal
The watch has a flat sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating on the inside. This enables a nice trade-off between high legibility in situations with glare while not exposing the AR-coating to any potential damage or tear.
Ceramic Bezel
The bezel is unidirectional counter-clockwise to eliminate the risk of overshooting time keeping. It has 120 positions (clicks) meaning that it can be used to measure time at intervals of 30 seconds. It has a ceramic insert which makes it completely resistant to scratches or dents. All parts are illuminated with Swiss Old Radium: off-white daylight and yellowish green in darkness.
Dial and hands
The watch sports classic syringe hands for hours and minutes. The seconds hand is a classic arrow hand. The hands and the numerical indexes are illuminated with Old Radium lume giving a nice contrast to the matte black dial.
The J35S has a date window at the 3 o’clock position.
Straps
The J35S comes in three different versions: with canvas strap, leather strap or bracelet. Each version also includes a high-quality nylon strap.
